If you are looking for a counsellor, it’s important to find someone you feel comfortable with and who is a good match for you. I believe that one of the most important parts of counselling is building a strong therapeutic relationship, so you can feel safe, trust me, to be able to talk openly about what is concerning you.
Reaching out to a counsellor for the first time can feel scary or overwhelming, and that’s completely okay. Together we can work at your own pace, helping you feel at ease and supported and creating a safe space where you can be yourself.

As an Integrative counsellor, my aim is to give you a supportive environment where you can feel comfortable and openly express your emotions, thoughts and life experiences. Some may be difficult or painful, no one said having counselling is easy, sometimes we need to get to the pain to find relief, here is where I might bring other modalities, to explore how the past is influencing you in the present and to learn with awareness how this might not serve you anymore. You will guide the direction of our work together because is your therapy after all. My role is to give you the space experiences and feelings you bring and this exploration often leads to feeling lighter, gaining clearer insight, and becoming more able to create meaningful changes.
I understand that life can be busy and it's not always easy to make it to a face to face session and as such I also offer online sessions that allow you to connect with me remotely from the comfort of your own home. The sessions are confidential, secure, private, and convenient.

I undertake regular formal supervision in line with BACP standards with a suitably qualified counselling supervisor. This ensures the quality of my practice and that I work at all times in the best interests of my clients. My supervisor is subject to the same confidentiality obligations, and no names, contact details, or other identifying information about you will be disclosed.
As a registered member of the BACP( British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy), I follow and uphold their ethical framework for professional counselling and psychotherapy.
Check out this great video about negative thoughts. I wonder if you notice that the more we try to push them away often makes them louder, and allowing them to be there without struggle gradually diminishes their pull.

I also started seeing a counsellor, Virginia, at Peace Hospice as an outpatient earlier this year. As an inpatient that has continued. I see the same counsellor, I just see her on the Inpatient Unit instead, now. The emotions can be very strong in this situation. So when the counsellor comes, she doesn’t judge. She just listens. She is only objective. Just there to listen. So I can open up and let out strong emotions. I can cry and it’s OK. I have learned that it’s OK to not be OK. It’s completely "OK not to be OK.”

My time with Virginia Herranz at Rennie Grove Peace Hospice for Emotional Support sessions has been incredibly helpful for me.
Her compassion, insight, and steady presence helped me understand myself in ways I hadn't fully considered before as I talked through my feelings, what confidence truly means to me, how to set healthy boundaries with family and friends, and how to recognize and manage moments of emotional overload. Virginia was able to validate my feelings and reassure me that what I was experiencing was okay, normal, and human. I am profoundly grateful for her support, wisdom, and the safe haven she offered each week.
I am base in Garston, Watford, Hertfordshire
